Do you feel encouraged and touched by God during Sunday worship only to have your faith fall flat on Wednesday afternoon? How do you react when you’ve lost your keys, you can’t find your car in the parking lot, and it’s 110 degrees outside? Do you blow your stack?
Hi, I’m Betsy.
I love dark roast coffee and life with teens. I’m passionate about enjoying God and the life He’s given me, but sometimes my crazy, stress-filled moments get in the way. I want my faith to spill over into my every day, especially during the bumpy moments when I need it most.
I know what it’s like to have a family blow-up with fireworks during breakfast, right after you prayed for peace.
I know what it’s like to be at odds with your husband over a decision.
I’m living proof that God’s love and grace cover our mess-ups. He’s given us everything we need through His written Word and the gift of His Holy Spirit inside us. Even when we fail, we find forgiveness and grace to get back up again and keep going. He’s weaving together all our crazy, rough moments with the glorious and hopeful to make something beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by here today. I’m honored.
I write to encourage women to fill up on God’s Word daily.
We want to know God better and live out our faith in practical ways, but when life gets bumpy, we often run out of steam because we’re running on empty.
This blog is a place where we can encourage each other to get God’s Word in, so our faith grows and spills out into our everyday. When we equip ourselves with the truth of scripture, we find the wisdom and help we need for more joyful and effective living. Every day. Not just on Sunday.
At Faith Spilling Over, I hope you’ll find:
- Encouragement to deepen your relationship with God
- Useful tips for engaging with His Word
- Inspiration to open your eyes to daily joy
- Practical ways to apply scripture to your marriage and family life.
I also hope you’ll smile to know that you’re not alone when I share some of the real life fiascos that threaten to flatten my faith!
As women of God, we need to equip ourselves with the Word of God. Will you join me? I post every Tuesday (and sometimes Fridays).

Here’s a bit more about me.
I’m a pastor’s wife, married to the most patient man on earth, and I’m set on enjoying our two teenagers while we still have them with us. We live in the Middle East. I love living here, but I sometimes bump into cross-cultural glitches, like drummers waking you at 3:00 a.m. every night during Ramadan. Most days I feel blessed and privileged to be here; other times I want to pull out my hair and catch the next plane home. Living in a Muslim country can challenge my faith, but morning coffee time with God keeps me thriving and happy.
- Laughing with my husband
- Talking with my teenagers
- Learning almost anything
- Reading and writing
- Playing board games
- Making new friends and spending time with old ones
- Cooking for friends
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to get to know you too. Leave me a comment to tell me a bit about yourself, where you live, what you do, what you love.
