How many times have I sat down to pray only to find my mind going off on a thousand bunny trails? I try to pray for five minutes, but the day’s to-do list pops up before me, my mind wonders to my grocery list, or I space out completely. My heart sank, and I gulped hard when I dropped my husband off at the metro station. Jose left for a two week trip, and as I drove home I mentally went through all that could go wrong during his absence.

I still remember as if it happened last night how mortified I felt as I struggled to cut a rock-hard pizza for first-time dinner guests. The pizza was ready one hour early, and not knowing what else to do, I left it in the oven on low. By the time our friends arrived, the pizza I’d worked so hard to make had reached the state of petrification.
